An Introduction to our Wines
Curated by our co-founder Desiree, our European focused wine list champions thoughtful producers that sight excellent craftsmanship at the forefront of grape growing, harvesting and production. Each wine has a story, a sense of place and time, while being made with love and respect, ensuring each bottle is alive with energy and flavour. Complementing the food, the wine list will also move and evolve with the seasons, showcasing both esoteric and classic styles with many options by the glass.
During the years of pop-ups and residencies, Desiree established many relationships with winemakers from lesser recognised regions of Central Europe, finding that these wines from cooler climates were perfect suitors to John’s cooking at AngloThai.
One of these long term partnerships is with Nibiru Wines situated in Austria’s Kamptal region. Rooted in our founders’ longstanding friendship with winemakers Julia and Josef, our signature wines were created. Affectionately named after Desiree and John’s two children; Rufus is a light bodied red, bursting with black fruits and tension, while Aubretia is an aromatic white with tropical notes and textured skin contact.
Our wine list aims to be thoughtful and formed in an inclusive way celebrating European wines of exceptional breadth.
Guests can expect accessible price points which offer a point of difference in provenance and wine making methods, including Stajerska Kollektiv from Slovenia, to exceptional premium bottles from recognised regions such as Château Le Puy from Bordeaux. While classic pairings of Wittmann Riesling from Germany to cult winemakers such as Charlie Herring, English Sparkling from Hampshire’s New Forest also hold cellar space in the European focused list.
These key relationships have grown and evolved with AngloThai, and we are proud to celebrate our makers’ vibrant stories through the wines that we offer.
