Anniversary
AngloThai 2nd Anniversary
This November, AngloThai turns two. To celebrate this occasion John has invited his friend chef David Thompson to cook at AngloThai for two nights only.
David opened Nahm in London in 2001, becoming the first Thai restaurant in the world to earn a Michelin star in 2002. In 2010, Nahm in Bangkok was opened, enjoying a seven-year run on the World’s 50 Best list, and holding the Asia’s 50 Best Lifetime Achievement Award, before winning its own Michelin star in 2017 in the first year the Michelin Guide was introduced to Thailand. Twenty-five years on, AngloThai is the only Thai restaurant in the UK to hold a Michelin star.
In 2014, it was at Nahm in Bangkok that John spent time in the kitchen with David after graduating from Le Cordon Bleu Dusit. Many of the foundations of the cooking at AngloThai was informed by David’s approach to Thai cooking, the insistence on balance, the respect for old recipes, the refusal to soften Thai cooking for anyone, was learned in that kitchen. David time at AngloThai will be a rare opportunity to experience his distinctive Thai cooking on British soil and promises to be an evening to remember for any Thai food enthusiast.
The dinners will take place on Tuesday 10th and Wednesday 11th November, and are limited to 45 guests each night, with bespoke wine pairings from AngloThai co-founder Desiree Chantarasak available on both evenings.
Bookings open in October with our mailing list gaining priority access, and we expect both nights to book out quickly.
